I am a Daisy Girl Scout this year and have been having lots of fun while learning about what it means to be a Girl Scout. So far this year we have learned what goes in a first aid kit and why, toured the local fire department, done a cookie exchange and made recipe books for the cookies, learned things we could do to help our hearts stay healthy, met a soldier in the Army and heard about his time overseas, and all along we've been working on learning the Girl Scout Promise and learning the Girl Scout Law and what each part of it means and how we can put it into practice. We still have tons planned for the rest of the year though. We will be going to Midwest Food Bank to learn about what they do and to help out with a project, we’ll be doing an upkeep project at the Wizard of Oz area of Butler Haynes Park, we’ll be taking a tour of TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter and manning a table at a pet store to accept food and supply donations for TAPS, and a few other great things that are in the planning stages still.
