Talk to the hand...

Today on the way home from church the girls were playing in the back of the van. While they were playing we overheard this part of the conversation...

Lili: "Bella, let's play something."
Bella: "Talk to my hand if you're going to talk to me."
Lili: "Bella, I want you to play."
Bella: "Talk to my hand, it's not going to answer you."

...and so it begins.

So, today Bella tells me that she gave Owen (a friend of her's from school) her phone number and her Mamaw's phone number so that he could call her whether she is home or at Mamaw's house....and he called her last night while she was over there.

(Me) Do you know even know Mamaw's phone number?
(Bella) Yes, she told it to me
(Me) What is it then?
(Bella) Um...I don't remember.
(Me) Okay...so Owen called you last night?
(Bella) Yeah, before we came home he called me.

So, a little later I talked to Mamaw Kim and asked her about it. She asked if Bella knew their phone number and said that she didn't receive any calls at her house last night.

(Me) Bella, Mamaw said that Owen didn't call you last night at her house.
(Bella) He didn't?
(Me) Mamaw said he didn't.
(Bella) Oh, I must have been daydreaming.

Really? At age 7, daydreaming about a boy calling her! Oh no!!!

Mummy Trouble

After church and lunch, it was time to watch some shows and relax a bit so the girls would be ready to earn their candy supply tonight. The Hallmark Channel happened to be running a Munster marathon, so we flipped it on to watch.

Bella, while watching an episode of the Munsters, and very concerned: "Mom! What happened to the color?"

Wow...that makes me feel really old. Didn't realize that she's really never seen shows in black and white.

You Have To Buy Kids?

Tonight while we were driving, the girls were talking about how many kids they want to have when they are growed up. (Thankfully that's a very long ways away!) Lili stated that she wants to have two kids. Then Bella chimed in and said she wants to have eleven kids!

Mike told her "You'd better be a doctor when you grow up or marry a doctor and she asked "why?".

I told her, "Because kids are expensive."

She replied, "You have to buy kids?"

I'm Too Smart!

Tonight we had Johnsonville Brats and Mac & Cheese for dinner.

While I was making the Mac & Cheese, Daddy was cooking the brats on the grill. Daddy brought in the brats from the grill and set them on the table, to which Lili promptly made note, "Those are dirty hot dogs!".

Daddy and I laughed.

Then Bella corrected Lili and said, "Those aren't hot dogs" and Daddy agreed with Bella and said, "You're right, those aren't hot dogs, they're brats."

Bella replied, "I know, I'm too smart!"

Seriously, where do they learn this stuff?

The Story of The Two Toed Frog?

For anyone who knows Bella, you know how much she loves animals. And many of you have seen pictures of her holding Lucky, her frog that she makes Papaw catch whenever she sees him in the pond.

Today when we got to mom's house to pick up the girls there was a huge box sitting on the porch...that in and of itself is scary. Inside the box is about 7 or 8 toads and a couple frogs, most of the toads have a friend riding on their back. Mike and I just shook our heads at each other and proceeded to go inside the house. The poor toads, no privacy.

While sitting in the living room waiting for the girls to get ready to go, Bella informs us that she and Papaw have caught some toads. Mamaw prompts her to tell us what kind of toads they are..."They're Two-Toad Frogs!" she tells us. (I'm guessing she's thinking of a Three-Toed Sloth...pretty ingenious for a five year old if you ask me.)

So, now you know what a Two-Toad Frog looks like!
